#QUOTEABLES - Chuck Palahniuk
"I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off."

PLAY > Ryan Leslie - Rescue U
Listening to Ryan Leslie sing is incredibly satiating. I'm forever consumed by the rich, buttery tone of his voice.
Anyways, onward. Though, I love the whole Transition (2009) album, 'Rescue U' may be my favorite track from the entire compilation due to the number of times I have revisited it over the years. It's a bonus track, so thankfully, my obsessed-fan self purchased the deluxe album. 'Promise Not To Call' is another top favorite of mine from the album, and it's also a bonus track. What the heck! Why would he do this?! People who paid money for the regular album are definitely missing out.

This was the best version I could find on YouTube. Asraf's keyboard intro is quite good, so it's doesn't completely downgrade the song.

Pardon his choices in clothing, this video was shot around 2008-2009.

PLAY > Bruno Mars - Treasure
**For those of you who follow my Music Monday posts: I'm sorry to inform you guys that I've decided to retire Music Monday from my blog. Though I found fulfillment in sharing a playlist with you guys every week, it was becoming more of a chore rather than actual fun. Posting what I'm currently watching and listening to under the 'Press Play' tab of jenncyu.com will be my new undertaking. I love music and sharing my favorite tracks too much to completely uproot it from my site. Hope you guys enjoy the new posts! As always, let me know your favorites. I'm open to hear anything and everything! Now...on with today's feature!**
I've been meaning to check out Bruno Mars' sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012) for quite some time now, but my crazy schedule has really made it difficult. I've listened to 'Locked Out Of Heaven' and 'When I Was Your Man' on the radio a whole bunch, but the rest of the album has been on the back burner for the longest time. I finally got through the whole compilation yesterday, and all I can say is WOW. This album may be better than his first.

I have been putting his soon-to-be new, summer single 'Treasure' on major repeat. It's incredibly groovy, and I can't help but be happy and bust a move when I listen to it.
Bruno Mars originally wanted to cover Breakbot's song 'Baby I'm Yours', but that was an understandable no-go. Mars' solution to the problem? Record 'Treasure' instead. And thank goodness because it's one of my new favorite songs! Yes, it's getting criticized in the media, because it's reminiscent of 'Baby I'm Yours', but I'm not mad about it. 'Baby I'm Yours' is another awesome discofied jam, and I'm happy that I have both songs in my life.

[MUSIC MONDAY] 5.20.2013
Happy Monday! So, I'm a huge Baz Luhrmann fan and thought The Great Gatsby was a masterpiece. The film was visually enticing, and the music used in The Great Gatsby was incredibly engaging. Don't let 'music produced by Jay-Z' fill you with any ounce of doubt about this movie or about this soundtrack. It's very well done and he totally nailed it. The five songs listed are a few of my favorites from the movie!
1.) FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE - Over The Love
2.) FERGIE - A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)
3.) FLUX PAVILION - I Can't Stop
4.) JAY-Z - 100$ Bill
5.) LANA DEL REY - Young and Beautiful

[MUSIC MONDAY] 5.13.2013
1.) CASSIE - Paradise feat. Wiz Khalifa
I know, I know...she isn't the greatest singer...but I kinda love her a lot.
2.) EMPIRE OF THE SUN - Alive
They just make me so happy.
3.) GEORGE BARNETT - Get Lucky (cover)
Listening to covers of my ever-fave Get Lucky by Daft Punk led me to discover George Barnett - my new YouTube crush!
4.) RIHANNA - Nobody's Business
Not as good as an MJ track, but still good.
5.) SLUM VILLAGE - Tainted
Still one of my favorite songs of all time...
